1. Hepatoprotective effect: The extract of the pseudo-gymnema sylvestre seed coating is rich in phenolic compounds, flavonoids, proanthocyanidins and ascorbic acid, etc. Studies have shown that it can alleviate liver damage induced by acetaminophen through regulating oxidative stress, inflammation and glucose metabolism, reducing serum AST/ALT levels, inhibiting toxic metabolism, alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress and cell apoptosis, and activating antioxidant pathways, inhibiting inflammatory cascades and improving glucose metabolism disorders.

2. Gastric protection effect: The extract of the gymnema sylvestre seeds has a protective effect on acute gastric injury induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in rats. The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, down-regulation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 and 5-lipoxygenase expression.

3. Antitumor effect: The alcohol extract of gymnema can inhibit the proliferation of melanoma B16 cells and induce B16 cell differentiation. Its anti-cancer mechanism is related to the inhibition of the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. In addition, the ethyl acetate extract of gymnema seeds can induce the differentiation of melanoma B16 F1 cells, thereby inhibiting their growth.
